Colourful Print Designs for Less!

Many people consider graphic designing as a costly occupation to deal with, and perhaps you would too if you werent aware of these design tricks that can keep your budget at a minimum! Read on to find out how you could save money but still enhance your coloured designs.

For a number of people, one factor that makes a design costly is the need to use numerous colours. Spot colour designs are definitely exciting as process designs; however, extras are needed if youd want your designs to stand out among others. In this article, along with learning how to save on ink costs, youll encounter several useful tricks that can be easily applied to get those stunning designs without burning a hole in your pocket. If you havent yet encountered ideas of making one or two colours look like many colors, then this list of tricks is for you!

Here are a few ingenious ideas on how to save money and still maximise the colour on your designs:

1.Overprinting Colours to Create a Third Colour Heres a tactic based on a principle you must have learnt in school. Simply follow the principle of mixing colours on canvas to the world of printer technology. The result is simple: once a colour prints over another, a third colour is created. You can use this technique to create a number of colours form a limited number of colours. All you need is a basic understanding of how colours work. You might consider looking up into a color wheel, and then, coordinate your printer well for the desired overprinting results.

2.Your Paper's Colour as a Third Colour Technology has surely brought interesting innovations to the world of paper production. We owe many coloured and designed papers to this technology, and wouldnt it be a waste to let go of simple uses of this technology! By taking advantage of them, you may save a lot simply by having your needed colour already in the paper you are using. Solid papers with a slightly different colour than those with traditional white or cream can bring dazzling results for your printout designs.

3.Tinting Your Colours You can take advantage of this technique by using a variety of tints on one or two colours you are using. Tinting creates an effect of multiple colours since a 10% of a certain colour is different than 80% of it. You can have about 20 different colours simply by experimenting on colour tints!

4.Duotones - Duotone photographs are those that are printed in two colours only. If you experiment enough with duotones, you might come up with subtle effects similar to sepia tones to colourful poster photos.

5.White Text on Solid or Tinted Boxes Instead of using a different colour for text that is placed inside a solid or tinted box, try white as your font colour. With this technique, you will also be able to use reverse text sparingly.

6. Although rubber-stamping can be a good way to save money, it is a very time-consuming affair. Use your creative skills to innovate rubber stamps, especially if you're on a scrap-booking project.

7.Laser foil for Your Laser Printer Many manufacturers produce and sell foils that could go along very well with your laser printer. A few also sell ones that that you can master copy. Copy the foil and use it with a copier on your inkjet printer. However, keep in mind that this can be a time-consuming piece of work.

8.Stickers and/or coloured foil labels There are various coloured stickers and foil labels on market that you can use to enhance your printed design output. You can also print text onto coloured or foil labels and then stick them in your printed pieces.

9.Creative Scissors and Punches Scissors and paper punches with unusual edges can be very useful in your low-budget pursuits as they can give your design that creative edge it might be lacking in the end. The scissors can also prove to be a money-saving alternative to costly die cuts.

Save On Printing Cost With Two Inks
Ever wondered if those black and white photographs in the magazines are really composed of only two colours? You might have if you didnt notice that the colours are sometimes also closer to brown or pale yellow. Theres an easy and simple way to create this effect the duotone process. Duotone (from the word duo) simply means two colours. This technique is often used to make monochromatic prints. It is done by adding a colour tint to black and white images. Both black and grey ink are used to smooth out or allocate different colours to specific parts, and increase tonal range from lightest to darkest.

Duotone also covers monotone, tritone and quadtone. Monotone (from the word mono) refers to images that have only one colour; and while tritone images use three colours, quadtone images contain four colours. Both tritone and quadtone images primarily use the Overprint Colours button. This option allows you to control the interaction of your ink. To give your image the duotone affect in Photoshop, go to Image, then to Mode, and select Duotone. If you are using RGB or CMYK, youll have set your workspace to grayscale first. To do so, select Image > Mode and choose Grayscale.

Next, select Image > Mode > Duotone. A dialog box will appear, which will allow you to select the colours you want. Open the Colour Picker by clicking on the colour swatch. Then, click on the Custom button. A pop-up menu will open, allowing you to select the colour and type of ink. If you want to modify your work, simply re-open your Duotone dialog box. To do this, go to Image > Mode > Duotone. Most commonly used duotone combination includes black and yellow; black and medium-blue; black and cyan; and black and brown. The duotone technique is often used to make black and white images richer. If you compare grayscale and duotone images, you will notice a difference in the colours. Along with adding the accent colour, Photoshop changes the hue of all the pixels.

When you browse through the image details, youll find that there is only one channel, even if youre using two colours. This is so because Photoshop uses Duotone curve. To access Curve, go to Image > Mode > Duotone. The Duotone Curve option is placed on the left of the colour swatch. Click on the box of the ink that you want to edit.

If you want to adjust the colour through Photoshops Curve Adjustment, simply select Image > Adjust > Curves. You can also change the tonal value by clicking and dragging on the line or by entering numbers on the field. Remember, you do not have to limit your combination to black and gray; you can use any two different colours to achieve the duotone effect.

Get Heartburn, Indigestion and Ulcer Relief Using DGL

In the 1940s licorice was discovered to be useful in treating peptic ulcers. Unfortunately it had side effects that lead to high blood pressure, potassium loss, and fluid retention.

Researchers discovered that the ingredient in licorice that caused those side effects was glycyrrhizin. They were able to remove 97% of this chemical and the result was a product call deglycyrrhizinated licorice, DGL. DGL maintained its healing properties but had no side effects.

DGL was first used to heal ulcers in the stomach and duodenum without suppressing stomach acids. DGL worked just as good as the drugs Zantac or Tagamet that are designed to suppress stomach acid.

As more people used DGL, they found they got relief from a variety of stomach issues heartburn, acid reflux, indigestion, bloating, and gas. In addition, they found using DGL was better than using antacids or acid blockers.

DGL works by improving and restoring the integrity of the esophageal, stomach and duodenum lining. It does this by promoting mucus release and cell rebuilding. The mucus released provides gastrointestinal lining protection from acids and gives the lining time to rebuild and regenerated. The result is healing and strengthening of the affected tissue.

Heres how to use DGL. DGL comes in large tablets that you place in your mouth and allowed to melt. You can chew them slightly but not swallow them since it is your salvia that helps activate the DGL.

By allowing DGL to melt in your mouth the resulting liquid will now run along your esophagus and start the healing process where ever there is tissue inflammation or damage.

Use two tablets 3-4 times a day on an empty stomach. Do not use any water when you are taking the tablets. You can take the tablets at least an hour before you eat and an hour after you eat.

Although DGL provides relief for heartburn, acid reflux and other stomach disturbances it does not totally provide a cure. It does provide recover from damaged gastrointestinal lining as occurs with ulcers, but does not change the level of stomach acid.

In some cases Heartburn is caused by to little or to much stomach acid. When too little acid is causing heartburn or acid reflux it makes no sense to use antacids or acid blocking drugs which decrease your stomach acid even more. Low levels of stomach acid leads to serious illnesses.

Because so much is still unknown about the cause of acid reflux or heartburn, it is known that DGL can give you some acid reflux relief and in some case mild cases cure it.

Use DGL for mild or severe cases of heartburn or acid reflux and you will be surprised at the results you get.

The Auvergne: Windsurfing - Horse-Riding - Volcanos - Hot Springs And Medieval Jousting

The Auvergne comprises the dpartements of Allier (03), Cantal (15), Haute-Loire (43) and Puy-de-Dme (63) at the heart of the aptly named Massif Central area of central France. The region is made up of many different types of landscape, with breathtaking scenery - mountains, precipitous gorges, tumbling streams, many lakes and extensive wild forests ... and many extinct volcanoes, up to heights of 1,885m (6,180ft) around Clermont-Ferrand, the capital city of the region.

Vulcania

The Vulcania theme park celebrates the many volcanos of the Auvergne with a guided tour which descends towards the centre of the earth within an extinct volcano crater. With simulations of volcanic eruptions, and lava flows, the origins of our solar system and science of the earth and of the univers are explored.

Les chemins St Jacques de Compostelle

The most well-known and impressive of the volcanic cones ("puys") is the Puy de Dme close to Clermont-Ferrand, one of the departure points for pilgims joining the Chemin St Jacques "Via Podiensis" route to the shrine of St James at Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain.

The pilgrim route passes through the the Parc Naturel Rgional des Volcans d'Auvergne, visiting several shrines of the enigmatic Black Madonnas en route - at Besse en Chandesse, Orcival, Murat, Mauriac, Aurillac for example.

Jousting and Troubadours

The history of the Auvergne is rich in legends of medieval times. In the towns of Besse en Chandesse and Salers as we walk through the narrow cobbled streets we seem far from the 21st century. At the breathtaking chateau de Murol medieval re-enactments take place several times a week from March to October.

Cheese Tasting

Auvergne cheeses such as Cantal, St Nectaire, Tme d'Auvergne and Bleu d'Auvergne are renowned worldwide, with the well-signposted "route des fromages d'Auvergne" offering the possibility of comparing the produce of different producers throughout the region.

Festivals and Ftes Throughout the season from Easter to November it is difficult to make choices between the many ftes and festivals, as each town and village celebrates it's local specialities and culture.

Many villages host a "march de pays" one evening each weekend through the summer months (July/August). Here local producers set up stalls selling their produce, prepared ready to eat: aligot, truffade, charcuterie, meat dishes, cheeses, deserts, wines... so that all may compose a meal of their choice and dine in convivial company with neighbours, friends and visitors at trestle tables set up for the occasion in and around the village hall.

Larger festivals not-to-be-missed include the "Hautes Terres" (High Lands) traditional music Festival at St Flour in early July and the Festival du Theatre de Rue (Street Theatre) at St Flour in mid September.

Thermal spas Patients from all parts of Europe are referred by their physicians to take the cure at the thermal spas. La Bourboule and Mont Dore are at the foot of the Puy de Sancy, famed for it's ski resorts. At Chaudes Aigues, further south in the haute Auvergne, the water flows at 82C, and is also used for heating and hot water by the inhabitants of the town. The favoured season for taking the "cure" is from February until October, the climate of the winter months being considered too damp.

Water Sports

Water is an important element in the region - the mighty Dordogne river rises at le Mont Dore, to feed many lakes as it winds it's way seaward, forming the boundary between the departments of Correze and Cantal, and the regions of Limousin and Auvergne. At Bort les Orgues the barrage which was built in the 1940s created an immense reservoir, overlooked by the fairytale Chateau de Val. Here it is possible to take a boat trip or practise any number of water sports, including water skiing and windsurfing.

The Lac de la Crgut lake is the largest natural glacial lake of the Massif Central, close to the lac de Lastioulles where the Centre Nautique also offers wind surfing as well as sailing, canoes, kayaks, surf bikes and swimming.

Walking, Hiking and Skiing Several ski resorts, including those at Super Besse and Super Lioran cater for all kinds of skiing. Cross-country skiing is particularly good. Most snow falls between January and March.

The many footpaths for walking and mountain biking ("VTT" in french), and long-distance routes for horse-riding through the mountains and forests are well way-marked, some including accomodation. Puy Mary is a favourite with walkers hikers alike, being easily accessible for all abilities, and also with stunning views of the Auvergne and Limousin.
